These resources have been designed to assist UT faculty with the development of a contract or syllabus for thesis/dissertation and independent study, where students may earn academic credit for work that does not occur in a regular course format.

All three documents are not required, but it is expected that the instructor provide a written document that clearly articulates the expectations for the award of academic credit.

The VSG Committee will also, with consultation of the student and his/her advisor, appoint a Doctoral Dissertation Committee to guide and assist the student in his/her doctoral dissertation.

The maintenance of academic quality resides primarily with graduate field faculty and directors of graduate study, working through the Special Committee—the group of faculty providing primary advisement and academic oversight for each graduate student.

The program is designed to prepare you with knowledge and skills in six core competencies: The Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership (EDL) program coursework consists of four components: core courses, courses within a designated concentration, research methods courses and the dissertation in practice.
